Restoring Connectivity After Flooding for a Medical Patient Care Facility

How we deployed a wireless bridge solution in days, not the 8 weeks their provider projected.

Wireless Bridge
Multi-Building Solution

Overview

A medical patient care facility operates out of two buildings separated by a busy road: a school building on one side and the clinical offices on the other. After a major storm caused severe flooding, the facility’s internet service to the offices was knocked out. Their existing provider estimated it would take 8 weeks to restore service, putting patient care operations at risk.

We designed and deployed a wireless extender/point-to-point bridge between the two buildings (with permission from both property owners) to bring the offices back online and keep operations running while the provider worked on the long-term restoration.

The Challenge

An 8-Week Outage Threatened Operations

Flooding created an immediate operational crisis.

Extended Downtime Forecast

The provider’s projected 8-week timeline meant prolonged disruption to office workflows.

Two-Building Setup

The facility’s layout, school in one building and offices across a busy road, made traditional quick fixes (like trenching cable) impractical at the moment.

Operational Continuity Risk

Without reliable office internet, key daily tasks (scheduling, communications, and digital workflows) were at risk.

The Solution

Wireless Extender Link Between Buildings

To restore service quickly, we implemented a wireless extender solution to share connectivity from the school-side building to the office-side building.

Step 01

Site Assessment & Line-of-Sight Planning

We evaluated viable mounting locations on both buildings to ensure a stable wireless link across the road.

Step 02

Stakeholder Permissions Secured

We obtained approval from both building owners to install the equipment.

Step 03

Deployment of Wireless Bridge/Extender

We installed and configured the wireless extender system to establish a reliable connection between the buildings and deliver internet access back to the offices.

Step 04

Validation and Stabilization

We tested performance and ensured the office-side network was usable for day-to-day operations.

The Impact

Offices Back Online in Less Than 1 Week

The facility regained operational connectivity without having to wait for the provider’s 8 week timeline.

Rapid Restoration

Rapid restoration of office internet access using a non-invasive, cross-road wireless link.

Continuity Protected

Continuity protected during a highly disruptive weather event.

Scalable Contingency

A scalable contingency approach the organization can reuse for future incidents affecting one side of their campus.

"Our provider told us it would take eight weeks to restore service. This wireless bridge got our offices back online when we needed it most."
